“As you see from my bio, I've worked in health promotion and wellness for years and I've seen the field change and grow. I can even remember before the term "coaching" was commonly used to describe lifestyle interventions. I'm eager to interact with you in these live webinar sessions. I'm sure that I'll learn from each of you as we share experiences and prepare to deliver outstanding health and wellness coaching.”
Brenda Wright“I have a passion for health coaching. I have the highest regard and respect for the job that coaches do. I'm always available to help and support coaches in any way that I can.”
Kim AllenINTERVENT has been offering evidence-based lifestyle and chronic condition prevention/management coaching programs since 1997. Over two million individuals have participated in our programs, including face-to-face and via digital/telehealth approaches. We’ve published more than 100 scientific abstracts/manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals demonstrating that our coaching programs are effective – to our knowledge, more than any other coach training organization. INTERVENT has always trained its own health coaches internally using proprietary training materials. Our training curriculum places a strong emphasis on health and wellness content, not just on coaching approach/strategies. The INTERVENT training program provides an interactive/engaging experience as evidenced by 60+ hours of live training and personal support. A very high percentage of coaches who have completed the INTERVENT training have passed the exam and become NBHWC-certified.
Training programs are offered twice a year. Enrollment is currently closed. Please stay tuned for the next enrollment window for our January 2023 course offering.
No. Anyone who is eligible to sit for the NBHWC exam is eligible for this course. Completing the INTERVENT training program does not guarantee that you meet the requirements for employment by INTERVENT as a health and wellness coach.
This course meets all of the training requirements established by NBHWC. When you enroll in the course, you will receive a detailed syllabus that describes the course objectives, requirements, textbooks, attendance policy, worksheets, quizzes, content/scope and sequence for live and non-live sessions and the process for review of submitted coaching calls. You will receive a certificate from INTERVENT to include with your NBHWC exam application. This training does not include the 50 logged coaching sessions required by NBHWC.
There are 60 hours of live training with faculty that addresses sections 1, 2 and 4 of the NBHWC outline. These sessions are delivered in two two-hour sessions per week over approximately 16 weeks (with adjustments for holidays). Health and wellness content (section 3 of NBHWC outline) is addressed in 15+ additional hours of video presentations (approximately 1.5 hours per presentation) that can be completed at any time. In addition to the 75+ hours of training (live and non-live), there are readings, study guides, activities and quizzes to complete.
Extra time needed for reading and assigned activities will depend upon your prior experience, education and learning style. Trainees who have a college degree in a health-related field may be more knowledgeable of the course content than those from other backgrounds. In general, we recommend allowing one hour of independent study for each hour of training.
The total cost is $2,995.
You may cancel your registration at any time prior to the close of the enrollment period and receive a refund less an administration fee of $150.
Yes. To allow for maximum interaction during live sessions, the class size is limited to no more than 16 participants.
